Short version:
These windows were designed for easy detection of termite
activity in hidden areas.
This listing is for 20 x TDAKS® Termite Windows.
( each measures 15mm across x 10.50mm deep )
Full easy to follow instructions supplied.
Don't expect a large package.
20 of these will easily fit in the palm of your hand.
They only measure 15mm x 10.5mm each
but thanks to our Australian developed HDTI system they
are hands down the best termite indication system around
and can be worth their weight in diamonds.
How do they work inside your home?
They are primarily installed into skirting.
A 13mm hole is drilled through into the base plate and capped
a termite window.
Hidden termites happily munching away will enter the hole and
fill it with a material called ‘carton’ to maintain their humidity level.
When they encounter the specially treated white edible disc
they will either eat it or stain it during the carton making.
If you see what looks like mud or deep staining then
it’s action time. You can call in a pro ( recommended )
or attempt a diy treatment yourself.
You will easily see ( without touching ) if they have arrived.
We DO NOT recommend that you quit using
a professional inspector. You would be silly if you did.
" You must take every anti-termite measure you can afford."
Common misconceptions about termites.
Normal home insurance will cover termite damage.
No. Home insurance companies classify termite damage repairs as 'maintenance'.
You would have a better chance of claiming a new paint job on your insurance.
Those Timber Replacement Warranties have so many exclusions and
expensive conditions that they're barely worth the paper they are printed on.
Chemical barriers will stop termites getting into homes.
Correctly installed barriers can prevent termites entering homes but they do
NOT come with a 100% guarantee against termite damage ( because
undiscovered termites can be already present inside your home.
In any case the only way you will know if a chemical barrier has failed is
when termites show up inside your home.
Treated timber will prevent termite invasions.
This was true over 20 years ago when truly effective chemicals were used.
These chemicals were then banned.
Modern ecofriendly chemicals mean that treated timber is now called
termite 'resistant'. In other words not termite proof.
Our termite windows use HDTI
( High Definition Termite Indication )
You will never have to touch them to inspect for termite activity.
100% Australian designed and manufactured.
If anyone ever claims that their product can replace regular inspections then they are fibbing.
These windows are intended for use as an adjunct to chemical termite barriers and professional
inspections and not intended as a replacement for same.
