Ours may not be as pretty as space age plastic baits but they run
rings around them. This system was around long before their arrival.
Incidentally, space age plastic baiting systems were not better at detecting
termites. They were simply an attempt to restrict termite detection and
treatment to licensed professionals to prevent diy inspection & treatment.
That's why it's hard to get the tops off without a special key.
We invite you to compare ours to all the others.
1. Zero contact ( no termite disturbance ) during inspection.
No need to remove lids. Just walk on by and look down. If the normally
white window has turned dark then it's action stations.
2. Takes less than a minute to inspect an installation of 12
Thanks to our HDTI ( High Definition Termite Indication ) system.
It is possible for manufacturers of plastic baits to incorporate a similar
system but highly unlikely as they would face a boycott by the pros.
3. Non target species and/or mud can’t enter the bait.
That's right, these can't fill with mud, ants, worms, beetles.
4. No need to replace inner baits every 6 months.
This is the general manufacturer recommendation.
5. Can last many years before any replacement required.
Made from sustainably sourced Tasmanian Oak.
6. Yes they are mainly wood.
Although outwardly simple there are still over 19 separate
manual processes required to produce each one.
This listing is for 12 x TDAKS® Termite Baits.
( each measures 30mm x 30mm x 180-195mm long )
They don’t have to be big to work.
Full easy to follow installation instructions supplied.
Some things you may or may not know.
Normal home insurance will cover termite damage.
No. Home insurance companies classify termite damage repairs as 'maintenance'.
Timber Replacement Warranties have so many exclusions and expensive conditions
that they're barely worth the paper they are printed on.
Chemical barriers will stop termites getting into homes.
Correctly installed barriers can prevent termites entering homes but they
do NOT come with a 100% guarantee against termite invasion.
The only way you will know if a chemical barrier has failed is
when termites show up inside your home.
Termite baits in the soil will ‘attract’ termites.
It has been scientifically proven that they can’t at any price. Full stop.
Think of yourself being blind folded and running through a forest.
That's how termites find any termite baits.
Termites are not genetically geared to hunt for food IN the soil.
They will of course eat what suits them when they blunder into it but
what they are seeking is food ON the surface. Now you know why
forests don't have twenty metres of fallen branches on the ground.
While you are here let’s clear up this term ‘bait’.
Where in ground termite detection systems are concerned
think of ‘fishing bait’ not ‘killing bait’ ( as that comes later ).
Treated timber will protect your home from attack.
This was true over 20 years ago when truly effective chemicals were used.
These chemicals were banned.
Modern environmentally friendly chemicals mean that treated timber is
now called termite 'resistant'. In other words not termite proof.
Why the pros won’t recommended our baits.
Simply because inspection is so easy they can’t charge
$150-$200 per monthly visit to come around and inspect them.
I don’t blame the pros for protecting their income but too
many home owners in these times are feeling the pinch and
can’t afford $1800-$2400 a year to have a pro come around
and inspect their own baiting systems.
That’s after spending around $2,200+ to have a system installed.
I DO NOT recommend that you quit using a pro for normal
home inspections. You would be silly if you did.
No system is perfect ( and anyone who says different is lying ).
Who knows, termites could be setting up camp inside your home
while you are busy installing baits outside.
" You should take every anti-termite measure you can afford."
How do they work ?
Termite baits are placed around homes to detect termites
zeroing in on your home as they relentlessly search for food
and water to keep the hidden colony going.
They are placed in the soil because termites travel 'underground'.
Monthly inspections ( only taking minutes ) are carried out.
Termites enter the chamber under the inspection window fill it
with a material called carton and either consume the specially
impregnated white disc or stain it.
When termite activity is indicated a connection will be
established with the termites' underground world.
The window is removed and treatment is introduced which is
distributed by the termites themselves, suppressing or killing
off the hidden colony.
Treatment is as easy as pushing a little mixed treatment bait into
their faces then connecting the rest of the bait via an above
ground container with a hole in the bottom. Some pros called in
for the treatment phase have even used old ice cream containers.
Any questions ?
Feel free to ask anything you like so that I can post the answer at the
bottom of this listing.
Remember, there is no such thing as a silly question.
100% Australian designed and manufactured.
If anyone ever claims that their product can replace regular inspections
then they are fibbing big time. These windows are intended for use as
an adjunct to chemical termite barriers and professional inspections and
not intended as a replacement for same.
